(May. 15 10:41 AM) - Concerts for City Greens is dedicating four of this summer’s free, outdoor concerts to the music of its illustrious song contest judges. The award-winning series, that brings the sounds of music to heart of Midtown, will showcase Amanda McBroom (May 30), Neil Sedaka (August 1), Ann Hampton Callaway (September 12) and Michael John LaChuisa (October 3). These four – plus David Friedman and Matthew Parillo – are serving as judges for the first Concerts for City Greens Songwriting Contest. (The quadruple-platinum songwriter and Today Show regular David Friedman provided the theme of last summer’s concert finale, and Matthew Parillo, a two-time Emmy Award-winning MTV Networks executive, has yet to begin his songwriting career.)

(May. 14 2:49 PM) - The New York Philharmonic’s 170th subscription season will conclude with Music Director Alan Gilbert, The Yoko Nagae Ceschina Chair, leading the Orchestra in an all- Mozart program: the Mass in C minor, Great, and Piano Concerto No. 22, featuring Emanuel Ax — Honorary Member of the Philharmonic-Symphony Society of New York — as soloist, Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, June 21 at 7:30 p.m., Friday, June 22 at 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, June 23 at 8:00 p.m. The C-minor Mass will feature performances by soprano Jennifer Zetlan (making her New York Philharmonic debut), mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnson Cano, tenor Paul Appleby (also making his Philharmonic debut), baritone Joshua Hopkins, and the New York Choral Artists, directed by Joseph Flummerfelt. Ms. Zetlan, Ms. Johnson Cano, Mr. Appleby, and Mr. Hopkins will join Alan Gilbert and the Philharmonic to perform the C-minor Mass at the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival July 27.

Jesse Smith has been a fixture of the Atlanta music scene for years, playing in groups as diverse as the punk band The Carbonas and in indie rock groups Paper Lions and Some Soviet Station. Gentleman Jesse and His Men was created in 2005, inspired by the energetic power-pop of the 70s. After two critically acclaimed albums, the 2006 7” Don't Wanna Know (Where You Been Tonight) and 2008's self-titled Gentlemen Jesse and His Men, Jesse and his men have produced a new album and gone back on the road.
